The flood plains of the Brahmaputra River's tributaries and the Arunachal Himalayas, which are made up of snow-capped mountains, lower Himalayan ranges, and the Shivalik hills, are the two main divisions of the Mishmi Hills region. The region is characterised by its steeply sloping terrain, subtropical evergreen forest vegetation, and heavy rainfall. One cannot find such virgin forest and unbroken mega-biodiversity anywhere else in the Himalayas. The local natural vegetation runs uninterruptedly from the subtropics to the mountain tundra. The Himalayas' subtropical evergreen forests are among those that have been most drastically altered, and the Mishmi region is one of the last refuges for numerous species that depend on these trees. The Rusty-throated Wren-Babbler, also known as the Mishmi Wren-Babbler, is an endangered species native to the Mishmi highlands that was previously only known from a specimen that Dr. Salim Ali and S.D. Ripley obtained using a mist net in 1947. About 680 different bird species exist.
