You will be welcomed by a representative of Wild India Journey when you arrive at Paro International Airport and taken to Thimpu (48 kilometers; 2 hours). Thimpu serves as Bhutan's capital. Late in the day visit to the Tashichho Dzong (Fortress of the Glorious Religion). Stay over night at hotel Le Meridien or similar.
Today, pay a visit to the Kuensel Phodrang (Buddha Statue), Folk Heritage Museum, and National Memorial Chorten (Monument). A large Buddha statue is perched atop the Kuensel Phodrang, a place of rest. In the late afternoon, visitors can see the Bhutanese country's national animal at Takin Preserve Center, Changangkha Monastery, and Sangaygang View Point. In the late afternoon, visit Tashichho Dzong (Fortress of the Glorious Religion). Stay over night at hotel Le Meridien or similar.
Today, travel 77 kilometres (3 hours) to Punakha or Wangdue; en route, stop at Dochu-La-Pass, 3150 m, for views of the upper Himalayas. Punakha is located at a height of 1310 metres. Check into your hotel after you arrive at Punakha. At lunchtime, go to the Punakha Dzong, which Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal built in 1637. Up until the reign of the second king, it served as the location of the government for a long time. The Dzong was known by the name Druk Pungthang Dechen Phodrang (Palace of Great Happiness). In 1952, King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck also hosted the first gathering of the National Assembly in Punakha, where Je-Khenpo currently spends his winters. After that, do a quick, straightforward walk to Chhimi Lhakhang, also referred to as "The Temple of Fertility," which was built by Lama Drukpa Kuenley. Stay over night at hotel Dewachen or similar.
It takes 3 hours to travel 78 kilometres to reach Gangtey (Phobjikha).
Following breakfast, embark on a full-day journey to Gangtey (9840 ft). The Black Necked Crane, which migrates from Tibet's arid plains in the north, calls Gangtey home. A beautiful valley exists in Bhutan. You visit Gangtey Gompa and then head back to Punakha. As an alternative for the day, hike to Khamsum Yuley Namgyal, which was built by her Majesty's queen mother Ashi Tshering Yangden. On your way home, if you feel up to it, you can go river rafting in the Mochu River. The price of the rafting is not included in the package. Visit the nunnery next. Stay over night at hotel Six Senses or similar.
travel today to Paro (7,483 ft.). While traveling, stop through Lamperi's Royal Botanical Park. Once you arrive, check in at the hotel. In the afternoon, visit the Ta Dzong National Museum. It features an amazing collection of religious Thangkha, artwork, and other items. "Fortress of the mound of diamonds" is the meaning of Rinpung Dzong. The dzong at Paro is now the city's administrative and judicial hub. Enjoy the evening at leisure. Stay over night at hotel Olathang or similar.
Visit Taktsang Monastery, commonly known as "Tiger's Nest," today by climbing the mountain (2.5 hr. hike from the base camp). Visit Drukgyel Dzong and Kyichu Monastery thereafter. Stay over night at hotel Olathang or similar.
The highest motorable road in Bhutan is the Chelela Mountain Pass. The pass, which lies at 3998 meters, is reportedly Bhutan's highest paved road. The drive up to the pass is beautiful. As you leave Paro, there are a number of switchbacks with stunning views of Paro. There were rhododendrons and orchids growing along the road when we first arrived in July. The pass's summit is covered in prayer flags and offers a view of the Haa valley and Jomolhari, Bhutan's second-highest mountain peak. Stay over night at hotel Olathang or similar.
